    James Smeaton is a multidisciplinary creative based in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, known for blending storytelling, design, and community-building into every project he touches. As the founder of Highland Multimedia, he has spent more than two decades helping businesses and organizations across Atlantic Canada tell their stories through thoughtful web design, branding, digital strategy, and photography. His work emphasizes clarity, authenticity, and results—rooted in a deep understanding of how people experience information online.

    Alongside his agency work, James is also the creative force behind several local ventures. He runs RentGorilla.ca, a platform designed to make rental searches simpler and more transparent, and JimmyStickers.com, where his love of illustration, humour, and character-driven storytelling takes shape as unique vinyl stickers. For five years, he served as the Dean of Awesome for the Antigonish chapter of the Awesome Foundation, helping to award $34,000 in micro-grants to grassroots projects that brought creativity, impact, and joy to the community—an initiative that reflects his commitment to supporting local passion and possibility.

    Across all of his work—whether designing a website, launching a new creative product, or supporting someone’s big idea—James brings a warm, human approach that blends technical expertise with genuine community spirit. He lives and works in Antigonish, continually inspired by the region, its people, and the stories waiting to be told.
